This 8m CAT6 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 250MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. It is the everyday choice for offices, homes and small comms rooms.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices.
PoE ready: it can carry power alongside data to cameras, access points and VoIP handsets under IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt (PoE++), up to 90W at the switch.
At this length it can link rooms, reach a loft or garage office, or connect a distant access point back to the switch. Choosing yellow leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
