Rated to 250MHz, this 30m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices.
PoE ready: it can carry power alongside data to cameras, access points and VoIP handsets under IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt (PoE++), up to 90W at the switch.
Long runs like this suit temporary networks and hard-to-reach equipment. Copper Ethernet is specified to 100 metres in total. Choosing white leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
