Rated to 100MHz, this 0.5m CAT5e lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. For everyday home and office networking that is all the speed you need.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. Moulded boots support the cable where it meets the plug, reducing strain on the conductors.
It is sized for in-rack patching between a panel and the switch directly above or below it. Choosing orange leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
