Rated to 250MHz, this 0.2m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. It is the everyday choice for offices, homes and small comms rooms.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
Use it for tight patching inside a rack, where a longer lead would only end up coiled behind the equipment. Red is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
