Rated to 250MHz, this 0.3m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The sheath is LSZH, meaning it produces little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire; many commercial and public buildings ask for it. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
It supports Power over Ethernet up to IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++), so one cable powers and connects IP cameras, wireless access points and desk phones.
Short lengths like this keep a cabinet neat: patch panel to switch, or switch to switch, with no slack to tie up. Violet is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
