This 2m CAT6 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 250MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
It supports Power over Ethernet up to IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++), so one cable powers and connects IP cameras, wireless access points and desk phones.
Handy at a desk or TV cabinet, and long enough to patch across a rack or to the next cabinet along. Choosing violet leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
