A 4m CAT6 Ethernet patch lead rated to 250MHz, good for Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. It is the everyday choice for offices, homes and small comms rooms.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
PoE ready: it can carry power alongside data to cameras, access points and VoIP handsets under IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt (PoE++), up to 90W at the switch.
Use it where the equipment is a few metres apart, such as a router in the hall and a computer in the next room. Violet is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
