Rated to 250MHz, this 20m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The sheath is LSZH, meaning it produces little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire; many commercial and public buildings ask for it. 24 AWG conductors are the heavier gauge, giving lower resistance on longer leads and with PoE devices. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
PoE ready: it can carry power alongside data to cameras, access points and VoIP handsets under IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt (PoE++), up to 90W at the switch.
At this length it can link rooms, reach a loft or garage office, or connect a distant access point back to the switch. Choosing orange leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
