Rated to 500MHz, this 5m CAT6A lead carries 10GBASE-T across a full 100 metre channel. It is the cable to choose for 10 Gigabit server, storage and uplink connections.
The cable uses a braided outer screen plus foil around every pair (S/FTP), the heaviest screening used on copper patch leads. Screened leads work best when the switch ports and patch panel are screened as well. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
It supports Power over Ethernet up to IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++), so one cable powers and connects IP cameras, wireless access points and desk phones.
This length crosses a room or an office bay, for example from a router on a shelf to a desk on the far wall. Black is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
