Rated to 500MHz, this 5m CAT6A lead carries 10GBASE-T across a full 100 metre channel. It is the cable to choose for 10 Gigabit server, storage and uplink connections.
The cable uses a braided outer screen plus foil around every pair (S/FTP), the heaviest screening used on copper patch leads. For the screen to do its job, pair it with shielded panels, keystones and switch ports. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. 26 AWG conductors keep the lead slimmer and more flexible than a 24 AWG cable. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
It supports Power over Ethernet up to IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++), so one cable powers and connects IP cameras, wireless access points and desk phones.
This length crosses a room or an office bay, for example from a router on a shelf to a desk on the far wall. Choosing orange leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
