This 0.5m CAT6 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 250MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. At 30 AWG the cable is much thinner than a standard lead, freeing up space and airflow in crowded cabinets. Slim leads are designed for patching, so keep them to the shorter lengths used inside cabinets and at desks. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
Short lengths like this keep a cabinet neat: patch panel to switch, or switch to switch, with no slack to tie up. White is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
