Rated to 250MHz, this 1m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The sheath is LSZH, meaning it produces little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire; many commercial and public buildings ask for it. At 30 AWG the cable is much thinner than a standard lead, freeing up space and airflow in crowded cabinets. Slim leads are designed for patching, so keep them to the shorter lengths used inside cabinets and at desks. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
Handy at a desk or TV cabinet, and long enough to patch across a rack or to the next cabinet along. Choosing white leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
