Rated to 100MHz, this 0.15m CAT5e lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. For everyday home and office networking that is all the speed you need.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. The plugs have moulded strain-relief boots for a firm, long-lasting joint.
Use it for tight patching inside a rack, where a longer lead would only end up coiled behind the equipment. Red is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
