Rated to 100MHz, this 30m CAT5e lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. For everyday home and office networking that is all the speed you need.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. 26 AWG conductors keep the lead slimmer and more flexible than a 24 AWG cable. Moulded boots support the cable where it meets the plug, reducing strain on the conductors.
A long lead like this is useful for temporary links, events or reaching outbuildings; for permanent runs, solid cable and wall sockets are usually neater. Choosing blue leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
