Rated to 100MHz, this 30m CAT5e lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. That is plenty for broadband routers, PCs, printers, set-top boxes and most office equipment.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The PVC jacket is soft and flexible, easy to route around furniture and equipment. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. Moulded boots support the cable where it meets the plug, reducing strain on the conductors.
A long lead like this is useful for temporary links, events or reaching outbuildings; for permanent runs, solid cable and wall sockets are usually neater. Violet is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
