Rated to 250MHz, this 10m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. It is the everyday choice for offices, homes and small comms rooms.
The cable uses an overall foil wrap around the four pairs (F/UTP) to keep outside electrical noise out. Screened leads work best when the switch ports and patch panel are screened as well. The sheath is LSZH, meaning it produces little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire; many commercial and public buildings ask for it. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
At this length it can link rooms, reach a loft or garage office, or connect a distant access point back to the switch. In a crowded patch panel, a yellow lead stands out at a glance.
