Rated to 2000MHz, this 3m CAT8 lead carries 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a braided outer screen plus foil around every pair (S/FTP), the heaviest screening used on copper patch leads. Screened leads work best when the switch ports and patch panel are screened as well. The sheath is LSZH, meaning it produces little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire; many commercial and public buildings ask for it. Its 24 AWG copper cores are thicker than the 26 AWG found in many patch leads, which helps with longer runs and powered devices.
This length crosses a room or an office bay, for example from a router on a shelf to a desk on the far wall. In a crowded patch panel, a aqua lead stands out at a glance.
