About CAT8
CAT8 is rated to 2000MHz and supports 25G and 40G Ethernet over links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is designed for short connections in server rooms and data centres, such as top-of-rack switch to server.
All CAT8 cable is fully shielded and uses the standard RJ45 connector, so it is backwards compatible with CAT6A, CAT6 and CAT5e equipment. For links longer than 30 metres, CAT6A is the right choice.
