Fanout (breakout) cables split an MPO connector into four duplex LC ends, for example to connect a 40G QSFP+ port to four 10G SFP+ ports.
MPO connectors carry 12 fibres in a single ferrule, which makes high-density fibre links quick to plug in and tidy to manage.
