What to know
Solid-core cable is the one to use for permanent runs from a patch panel to a wall or floor outlet. Each conductor is a single copper wire, which punches down cleanly onto the IDC terminals of a panel or keystone jack. It is not designed to be flexed again and again, so it is not used to make patch leads.
CAT6 carries Gigabit Ethernet over 100m and 10 Gigabit over shorter channels, up to about 55m.
