This 10m CAT8 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 2000MHz and handles 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a screened construction that helps in electrically noisy spaces. For the screen to do its job, pair it with shielded panels, keystones and switch ports. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads.
At this length it can link rooms, reach a loft or garage office, or connect a distant access point back to the switch. Choosing white leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
