This 10m CAT6 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 250MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. Its 24 AWG copper cores are thicker than the 26 AWG found in many patch leads, which helps with longer runs and powered devices. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
It supports Power over Ethernet up to IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++), so one cable powers and connects IP cameras, wireless access points and desk phones.
At this length it can link rooms, reach a loft or garage office, or connect a distant access point back to the switch. In a crowded patch panel, a black lead stands out at a glance.
