This 5m CAT5e patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 100MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. That is plenty for broadband routers, PCs, printers, set-top boxes and most office equipment.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. Its LSZH sheath (low smoke zero halogen) limits smoke and toxic fumes if there is a fire, and is often a requirement in offices, schools and hospitals. 26 AWG conductors keep the lead slimmer and more flexible than a 24 AWG cable. Snagless boots shield the RJ45 clip, so it will not catch when the lead is pulled through a bundle or snap off in use.
This length crosses a room or an office bay, for example from a router on a shelf to a desk on the far wall. Choosing green leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
