Rated to 250MHz, this 25m CAT6 lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. That headroom makes it a safe default for new office and home networks.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The black PE (polyethylene) outer jacket is made for outdoor use, so the lead can be run along walls, fences and between buildings. The plugs have moulded strain-relief boots for a firm, long-lasting joint.
A long lead like this is useful for temporary links, events or reaching outbuildings; for permanent runs, solid cable and wall sockets are usually neater. Choosing black leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
