A 2m CAT8 Ethernet patch lead rated to 2000MHz, good for 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a screened construction that helps in electrically noisy spaces. Screened leads work best when the switch ports and patch panel are screened as well. Its LSZH sheath (low smoke zero halogen) limits smoke and toxic fumes if there is a fire, and is often a requirement in offices, schools and hospitals. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads.
Typical uses are floor box to laptop dock, router to smart TV, or patching between two adjacent cabinets. Choosing blue leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
