This 2m CAT8 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 2000MHz and handles 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a screened construction that helps in electrically noisy spaces. For the screen to do its job, pair it with shielded panels, keystones and switch ports. Its LSZH sheath (low smoke zero halogen) limits smoke and toxic fumes if there is a fire, and is often a requirement in offices, schools and hospitals. 26 AWG conductors keep the lead slimmer and more flexible than a 24 AWG cable.
A good length for the desk: wall socket to PC, router to games console, or a short hop between neighbouring racks. White is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
