This 1.5m CAT8 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 2000MHz and handles 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a braided outer screen plus foil around every pair (S/FTP), the heaviest screening used on copper patch leads. Screened leads work best when the switch ports and patch panel are screened as well. Its LSZH sheath (low smoke zero halogen) limits smoke and toxic fumes if there is a fire, and is often a requirement in offices, schools and hospitals. Its 24 AWG copper cores are thicker than the 26 AWG found in many patch leads, which helps with longer runs and powered devices.
Typical uses are floor box to laptop dock, router to smart TV, or patching between two adjacent cabinets. Aqua is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
