Building a fibre panel
A fibre patch panel is where backbone or inter-building cable is terminated and then patched to switches with fibre leads. Loaded panels come fitted with LC adapters ready to use; unloaded and configurable panels let you choose the adapters and fibre count.
Incoming cable is usually fusion spliced to fibre pigtails inside the tray, with splices held in a splice tray. Adapter colours follow the fibre grade: aqua for OM3/OM4, violet for OM4 Erika violet and blue for single mode, so match the adapters to the cable you are installing.
