CAT5e crossover network cables for connecting two computers or switches directly, in lengths from 0.5m to 30m, including snagless versions and a choice of grey, blue, red, violet, yellow and green.
Do you need a crossover cable?
A crossover cable swaps the transmit and receive pairs between the two ends, so two devices can talk directly without a switch, for example two computers, two switches, or a PC and a device being configured. Most network equipment made in recent years supports Auto-MDIX, which detects the connection and works with a standard patch cable, so crossover cables are mainly needed for older equipment, and some industrial and test setups, that do not.
If you are not sure, a crossover cable will also work with Auto-MDIX equipment. Crossover and standard cables look the same, so it is a good idea to use a different colour for crossovers and keep them clearly labelled. For CAT6 installations, see our CAT6 crossover cables.
