Rated to 100MHz, this 4m CAT5e lead carries Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres. That is plenty for broadband routers, PCs, printers, set-top boxes and most office equipment.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. An LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is used, which is what most building specifications now call for indoors. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads. The RJ45 latch is protected by snagless boots, which stop it hooking on other cables or breaking.
This length crosses a room or an office bay, for example from a router on a shelf to a desk on the far wall. Choosing pink leads for one job (cameras, phones or uplinks, say) makes faults quicker to trace later.
