A 30m CAT6A Ethernet patch lead rated to 500MHz, good for 10GBASE-T across a full 100 metre channel. It is the cable to choose for 10 Gigabit server, storage and uplink connections.
The cable uses foil around each pair and an overall foil layer (F/FTP). For the screen to do its job, pair it with shielded panels, keystones and switch ports. The black PE (polyethylene) outer jacket is made for outdoor use, so the lead can be run along walls, fences and between buildings. Moulded boots support the cable where it meets the plug, reducing strain on the conductors.
A long lead like this is useful for temporary links, events or reaching outbuildings; for permanent runs, solid cable and wall sockets are usually neater. In a crowded patch panel, a black lead stands out at a glance.
