This 30m CAT6 patch lead from Nimbus is rated to 250MHz and handles Gigabit Ethernet at up to 100 metres, with 10GBASE-T possible on shorter links of around 55 metres. It is the everyday choice for offices, homes and small comms rooms.
The cable uses unscreened twisted pairs (U/UTP), which is all most homes and offices need. The black PE (polyethylene) outer jacket is made for outdoor use, so the lead can be run along walls, fences and between buildings. The plugs have moulded strain-relief boots for a firm, long-lasting joint.
A long lead like this is useful for temporary links, events or reaching outbuildings; for permanent runs, solid cable and wall sockets are usually neater. Black is one of several colours in the range, so you can colour-code by department, VLAN or device type.
