Rated to 2000MHz, this 3m CAT8 lead carries 25G and 40G Ethernet over short links of up to 30 metres, as well as every slower speed. It is aimed at short, high-speed links in server rooms, such as switch to server within the same row.
The cable uses a screened construction that helps in electrically noisy spaces. For the screen to do its job, pair it with shielded panels, keystones and switch ports. Its LSZH sheath (low smoke zero halogen) limits smoke and toxic fumes if there is a fire, and is often a requirement in offices, schools and hospitals. Using 26 AWG copper makes it a little thinner and easier to dress neatly than heavier-gauge leads.
Use it where the equipment is a few metres apart, such as a router in the hall and a computer in the next room. In a crowded patch panel, a yellow lead stands out at a glance.
