What to know
Outdoor network cable has a tougher jacket that stands up to sunlight and wet weather, for runs outside a building such as to CCTV cameras, gates, outbuildings or external access points. Indoor cable should not be used outside, as its jacket breaks down in UV light.
CAT6A carries 10 Gigabit Ethernet over the full 100m channel, which is why it is the usual choice for new installations and Wi-Fi 6/7 access points.
